LMPD, with over 1,250 uniformed officers and an annual budget of approximately $150 million, is one of the largest and most successful urban police forces in the nation. But with over 97% of its budget devoted to personnel, vehicles, equipment and buildings, LMPD has little financial flexibility in an era in which the threats facing our community are growing and becoming more complex.

Our mission is to help ensure that Louisville is one of America’s safest cities, by using private resources to provide the LMPD and its officers with essential yet unfunded equipment and programs. As a private, independent, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, the Police Foundation is dedicated to supporting the men and women of LMPD as they work tirelessly to keep our community safe.
